IMA, Germany

IMA, is a certified residential adult education centre based on the Grundtvig idea founded in 1956. For decades the institute’s work has concentrated on life-long learning in the fields of civic, social and political education, also working in the fields of religious education, parental and family education, personal and cultural education.

IMA addresses all interested citizens, the main target group of the work are especially ethnic German immigrants (from the former Soviet Union) and displaced people (expellees). Furthermore young people from different European countries come to IMA for educational and cultural projects and exchange.

The main focus of work:

  • Providing insight into the basic correlations and transformations of society and the state.
  • Cultivating tolerance and respect as the basic prerequisite for freedom and democracy.
  • Contributing to the existence and future of a free society and a democratic state through our educational programme.
  • Reflecting on values and questions of meaning and coming to an independent judgment in discussion processes.
  • Enabling to exercise one’s own rights and motivating to participate in society issues.

KMOP, Greece

KMOP is a non-profit organisation, founded in 1977, being thus one of the oldest Greek NGOs with 40 years of accumulated experience in supporting disadvantaged groups. KMOP is committed to kindling a better world. That is a world that rests on a foundation of sustainable development, social growth, and individual well-being.

We work with the public and private sectors, as well as with civil society to drive solution-oriented, knowledge-based interventions that are crucial to fostering resilience and making the world a better place to live.

KMOP’s main areas of expertise include social welfare and health, employability and human rights protection, scientific research and development of know-how in social policy and social protection issues.

Apart from direct provision of services through decentralised community based facilities, KMOP is also actively involved in both national and international projects, addressing social issues particularly focusing on low-skilled youth and long term unemployed, victims of violence and trafficking, disabled, elderly, migrants and minorities.

ESHA, Netherlands

ESHA, the European School Heads Association, is a professional organization for European School Heads. Members of ESHA are national organisations for school heads and deputy school heads within (pre-) primary, secondary and vocational education. Nearly all European countries (both EU and non-EU) are represented within ESHA by one or more organisations.

ESHA is an international community in which experiences, visions and views between members are exchanged and in which new ideas are born. ESHA connects school leaders, researchers and policy makers with the collective aim to learn from each other and improve education.

Pistes Solidaires, France

Pistes-Solidaires is an educational organisation that champions the knowledge, skills and attitudes that promote justice and equality in our multicultural society and interdependent world. Pistes-Solidaires works to enable individuals to better understand the links between their own lives and those of others across the world.

We see education as all-encompassing and life-long, and our work in the educational domain is based on UNESCO’s four pillars of learning: learning to know, learning to do, learning to be, and learning to live together.

Pistes-Solidaires is a European Non-Governmental Organisation that is very active at European level. The organisation comprises 3 departments:

  • Educational mobility: this department gives people the chance to experience learning mobility through European programmes (EVS, youth exchanges, training courses), as well as international voluntary civil service through the French civil service.
  • European cooperation: Pistes-Solidaires aims to increase the impact of EU cooperation at local level in the following spheres: education, social inclusion, socio-cultural fields
  • Local development: we aim to augment local knowledge of Europe and European values. We were awarded the ‘Europe Direct Information Centre’ label by the European Commission in 2013.

Pistes-Solidaires is based in Pau, in the southwest of France, and is also a part of a European-wide federation comprising 13 member organisations.
